Ernest Henson Walley, 85, of Pasadena, Texas passed into eternal rest on Friday, June 7, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Ernest was born on March 27, 1928, to Forest and Minnie McDowell Walley in Huntsville, Texas. Ernest served in the US Marine Corp. during the Korean War. Upon returning to the States, he met and married Dorothy Brooks in 1953 and the couple made their home in Pasadena, Texas. Ernest went to work for Shell Oil Co., where he worked in the refinery lab for 38 years.
Ernest loved gardening, beekeeping, bird watching, camping in New Braunfels, tubing the Guadalupe River and spending time with his friends and family.
Ernest was a devout Christian servant. He served as a deacon at Watters Road Church of Christ for many years. He was a man of strong faith and was confident in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love.
Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy Brooks Walley; daughter Suzanne Walley Hebert and husband Roxy; grandchildren Jeffrey and Jennifer; sister Jewel Thompson; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Ernest’s grandchildren brought tremendous joy to his life. He loved being a grandfather and will be dearly missed. Loving people and giving to those he loved defined his life and character.
The family will receive friends from 11:30am-12:30pm at Grandview Funeral home on Wednesday, June 12, 2013. Funeral services will be held after visitation at 12:30pm, at Grandview Funeral Chapel in Pasadena, Texas. Condolences may be shared at www.grandviewfunerals.com.
