Charlie was born on December 13, 1942, to Francis and Carl McNutt in the bustling city of Winnipeg, MB. He worked with CP Rail across western Canada before becoming a journeyman plumber/pipe fitter, then worked in the pipe fitting industry for over 50 years in Calgary, AB. Although he loved his work, his true passion was raising his family and supporting his community through coaching, playing various sports, and helping his neighbours and friends.
In 1988, he met Joan at a birthday party dance hosted by mutual friends. Charlie raised two sons and Joan brought her son and two daughters to the newly blended family.
Charlie retired in 2006 and built his dream home with Joan in Parksville, BC. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and being a member of the Arrowsmith Golf Club where he enjoyed many rounds with his wife and friends.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents Francis and Carl, and his brother-in-law Les Hibbert.
He is survived by his wife Joan, brothers Paul (Bev), Carl (Doris), Eugene (Sharon) sister Jane, sons Pat (Renae), Steve (Danielle), stepson Darwin (Andrea), stepdaughters Deann (Kirk) and Sheri (Chris). Charlie is also survived by his grandchildren Brian (Jessica), Jessica (Mac), Jordan (Brittany), Tyler (Meagen), Tori (Riley), and Graeme along with four beautiful great-grandchildren Abigail, Danielle, Ozzy, and Stratton.
A celebration of life will be planned along with a tree-planting ceremony in the summer of 2025.
