He was born on July 14, 1932, in Cisco, WV, the son of the late James and Edna Leona Moore Nelson.
He was a 1950 graduate of Cairo High School and honorably served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was employed at American Viscose, Dupont, and was self-employed as the owner of Larkmead Garage for over 40 years. Bob was a self-taught auto mechanic and was well-known for his engine building, stock car racing (#26), and his love of cars. He started working at the age of 9 years old and was a hard- working man with a strong work ethic.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Edith Ann Cooper Nelson of Parkersburg, WV; his daughter, Terri (Marty) Rollins of Walker, WV; granddaughter, Isabelle Shae Rollins of Walker, WV, who Bob loved with all of his heart; brothers, Harold and Richard Nelson; sister-in-law, Delores Little and her husband, Nute of Parkersburg, WV; David Cooper and his wife, Marian of Plant City, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Nelson; sister, Alma Williams; mother and father in-law, Eugene and Rosemary Cooper; and brother-in-law, Richard Cooper.
Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed. We rest knowing he is now at peace.

Memorial donations can be made to the Humane Society of Parkersburg due to Bob’s love and care of animals, especially his late dog, Cale, who was his constant companion.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at Sunset Memory Gardens.
