He was born February 18, 1935, in Wood Co. a son to the late Roy Everett and Inez Smith Collins. His career started with delivering milk, then in 1954 went to work at O-Ames, from there he went on to work for Cook, Allegheny Trucking and driving a school bus route. In 1962 he became a Teamster, Local 175, and went to Bell Line/Smith Transfer and worked there until they closed, following his time there he went to work at DuPont, Shell, and Cabot until his retirement. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, where he enjoyed spending time with his church family, his Teamster Breakfast Club, and special longtime friends, June and Wilma Sams, and Don Hopkins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kay Collins, brothers, Erchel Collins, Don Collins, and C.R. “Hap” Collins, and his special friend, Coco.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Collins, children, Richard Alan Collins, Michael R. Collins (Michelle), Ann Marie Cottrill (Dave) all of Parkersburg, and Roger Lee Collins (Melinda) of Washington, grandchildren, Dustin Alan Collins (Debbie), Amy Michelle Boone (Jason), Kandace Lynn Collins, Lisa Nicole Deem, Zachary David Debrular, Jami Lee Debrular, Halley Rachelle Collins, and Madison Renee Collins, great grandchildren, Raylee Whited, Peyton Collins, Jaelynn Shamblin, Dade Boone, Jake Boone, Kali Smith, Amelia Deem, and Cayden Wyndom, brothers, Blaine Collins, and Robert Dean Collins (Donna), sister, Corrine Eaton, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Service will be Wed. Oct. 30, 2013, 2:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Ron Hendershot and Chris Waldron officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Tue., Oct. 29, 2013, from 2-8 pm at the funeral home.
