He was born January 24, 1952 in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Charles “Chick” Masten and Loretta Haynes.
Larry was a member of the Sheet Metal Local 33 union until he retired in 2007. He enjoyed the river lot, boating, WVU football, and NASCAR racing. Larry loved spending time with his family, especially his 5 grandchildren, watching them grow and play together brought him so much joy. He was the best husband, dad, and papaw. He will be deeply missed.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 34 years, Janie Masten; daughters, Brianna (Bryan) Walker of Belpre, OH, Amanda (Tim) Collins of Lubeck, WV; 5 grandchildren, Bryleigh, Mason, Allie, Bristol, Emma; brother, Jeffrey (Martha) Life of Parkersburg, WV; 2 sister-in-laws, Maryann Life of Parkersburg, WV, Joyce Stevens of Florida; 4 nieces, Danielle (Jamie) Butcher, Brandy (Nathan) Worsham, Megan (Nick) Davis, Katie (Darren) Welcher; great nieces, Annisty, Madalee; great nephews, Cohen, Dylan, Zavian, Benny, Charlie and many other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Howard Haynes of Williamstown, WV; step-mother, Caroline Masten of Parkersburg, WV; brother, Harold “Butch” Life of Parkersburg, WV; nephew, Ben Stevens of Miami, FL; step-brothers, Mike Haynes, Nick Haynes; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Camden Clark for the compassionate care Larry received during his final days.
Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Wednesday July 26, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the funeral home.
