He was born March 28, 1944 in Ellenboro, West Virginia, a son of the late Oliver K. Hess and Frances Louise Beall Hess.
Larry was an Air Force veteran who attended South Parkersburg Baptist church, was an active member of Mount Olivet Lodge 3 and Millwright Local 1755. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice Burns Hess; one son, Kenny Hess of Petroleum, WV; two daughters, Lynne (Keith) Cook of Reedsville Ohio, and Amy Farnsworth of Little Hocking, Ohio; one brother, Garry (Pat) Hess of Belpre, Ohio; one sister, Mary (Darrell) Rinehart of Cairo WV; and his four grandchildren, Corey Farnsworth, Cole Farnsworth, Chase Cook and Sidney Cook. He will be greatly missed by his dog, Bandit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Carolyn Hayhurst.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Hamblin officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
