He was born December 29, 1935 in Parkersburg, a son of the late E.E. (Bus) Thomas and Dorothy Deem Thomas.
Donald worked for Fairmont Foods, Corning Glass, top salesmen for Lance INC., and owned and operated the Quaker State Gas Station on 16th and Park Ave for many years. He retired as a bus driver for Wood County Schools after many years of service. He served 4 years in the United States Air Force. He was a Baptist by faith and attended the Baptist Temple where he was a life member. He was a member of the Masonic Bodies, 32nd ° Mason, American Legion, DAV, and VFW. He enjoyed spending time with family swimming, antiquing and finding a good garage sale.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his daughters, Angela Barton, Tracy Thomas (Mike Burdette); sisters, Betty Morrison, Linda Barker, Pat (Lee) Reese; grandchildren, Joshua Barton, Cole Thomas Bullard; ex-wife, Ann Thomas; several nieces and nephews; his faithful companion, Big Boy; and Roy Wharton, whom he thought of as a son.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Thomas, Ron Thomas, Larry Thomas; sister, Gene Rowley; and granddaughter, Tayler Ann Gough.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Wednesday May 17, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the funeral home.
