Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 – 10 a.m. Saturday.
Mr. Brooks was born April 26, 1937, in Baton Rouge, LA.
He graduated from Paris Junior College with honors. W. C. joined the United Sates Navy and was honorably discharged following his service. He worked several years for Coca Cola before beginning a career with B & W which spanned 31 years before his retirement. He was a faithful member of the Powderly Church of God. The three most important things in his life was God, family, and country.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Lucas & Olli Mae Lucas and two siblings, Jeanette Moore and Luther Lucas.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Melton Brooks, whom he married on April 26, 1958, two sons, Carl Brooks & wife Becky and Terry Brooks & wife Susan, grandchildren, Tonya Chipman & husband John, Jessica Callaway & husband Jason and Ashley Clement, great grandchildren, Logan Carter, Brooklynn Carter, Lexi Clement, Zack Callaway, Elliott Callaway, Johnny Lee Callaway, and Allieya Chhoeuy, and a sister, Doris Barnhill & husband John along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Billy Avance, Glen Bolyard, Merwin Moss, Benjamin Moore, John Barnhill, and Jason Callaway.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made Gideons International, P. O. Box 261, Paris, TX 75461 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
