Known to family and friends by many names, Polly, Mom, Mimi, Aunt Polly, Pollyanna. Polly spent her entire 90 years with grit and determination to win. She defied the normal and carved her own path, marched to the beat of her own heartbeat.
She was an avid seeker of knowledge, graduated high school at 16 years old, procured a job at Paris Hospital and moved into her own apartment. Polly never took defeat or no for an answer, never backed down and remained feisty and stubborn until she gained residency in Glory with life everlasting.
She mastered many talents in her 90 years, was an excellent cook, played piano, sang in the choir, wrote poetry, crafter, a voracious reader, scholar of her bible and played the harmonica.
A quest for continuing her education and knowledge was a driving force in her life, learning to drive in her 40s, received an Administration Credential, mastered typing both manual and electric, in her 60s, learned to swim at 75. An active member in her community, church, organized meals, visitation, bus ministry, taught Sunday School, VBS, ministry to the elderly and inmates.
Volunteered at the Election Booths. Also, spent many summers at Six Flags, enjoying the roller coasters.
Pauline married her beloved in 1951, Shield Henry Lane, Jr. known to her as June. They were married until his rebirth in 2003. Together they raised 4 children. David, Don, Brenda, Stacy.
After 30 years as a homemaker, she went to work and did so full time until she was 88 years of age.
Pauline is survived by her children, Gerald David Lane, spouse Debi of Joshua, TX. Larry Don Lane, spouse, Kathy of Paris, TX. Brenda Lane Sanchez, spouse Fred of Park City, Utah. Stacy Lane Weaver of Alvarado, TX. The Lane legacy is filled with 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, countless nieces and nephews, many friends and family.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23rd at Providence Cemetery, Paris, TX under the direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
