Mary Catherine DeWitt Bramlett, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Plano on February 17, 2016 after an extended battle with pancreatic cancer. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Martin DeWitt, and her parents, Martin Grant DeWitt and Mary Alice Bassano DeWitt. Catherine was born on March 29, 1931, in Paris, Texas. Her childhood years were spent in Dallas, Texas, where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. She went on to attend North Texas State University. In the early ‘50s, her family moved back to Paris where she met the love of her life, Leslie (Les) Bramlett. Catherine was a talented ballet dancer in her younger years and was a dance instructor in Paris, where she taught many young students the art of classical ballet. She later taught dance at Paris Junior College, and in Dallas, Tulsa, and San Antonio. In 1974, the family moved to Plano where they have lived ever since. She spent the later years of her career working as an office manager and executive assistant in Dallas. One of Catherine’s passions was sewing – she participated in sewing clubs and taught various classes on weekends in the Plano/Richardson area. She also spent many hours baking for her children and grandchildren, especially around the holidays. She was a selfless, beloved matriarch who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived and remembered with love and affection by her husband of 58 years, Leslie Eugene Bramlett, her five children and their spouses, Bill and Betsy Bramlett, Bob and Melany Bramlett, Lisa Bramlett Brown, Matt and Gillian Bramlett, and Mitch and Sara Bramlett. Mam-Maw, as she was called by her family, took great delight in all of her 15 grandchildren – John, Justin, Brittany, Ashley, Cortney, Kristopher, Krystal, Travis, Tara, Christian, Kate, Charlie, Andrew, Audrey, and Lauren. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Choti and his colleagues at UT Southwestern Medical Center for giving us more time with Catherine, as well as the nurses from Faith Hospice and Acappella In-Home Care, for caring so lovingly for Catherine in her final days. Bright-Holland Funeral Home scheduled a private service for the family in Paris, Texas on Saturday, February 20. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center or a charity of your choice.
