Johnny Ray Lilley, 88, of Detroit, Tx passed away on October 3,2023 surrounded by his family. He was born in Hominy, Oklahoma to Roy and Opal Lilley. He was a proud graduate of Talco High School where he met and married his high school sweetheart Janetha (Jan) Lewis Lilley on February 25, 1955. He went on to serve his country by serving in the United States Army. He retired after 40 years from Lone Star Gas Company where he worked in management in Gainesville and Jacksboro Texas. After retiring he moved back to northeast Texas, and made his home on the 4 J Ranch in Detroit, Texas. He served many terms on the 410 Water Board.
He enjoyed being outside, riding the tractor checking cows, going to Detroit High School sporting events and being with his family: especially his three grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Jan; his son Jon Lilley of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and his daughter Janay Hull of Jacksboro, Texas. The joy of his life his three grandchildren Jacey Lilley, Colton Hull, and Cason Hull. Also three special sister in-laws Annette Jones, Becky Blackburn, and Brenda Russell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roy Junior Lilley, and sisters Pearl Garner, Onna Hooper, and Kay Feaster. He was also preceded in death by his son in-law Bret Hull.
The family would like to thank the great staff at Spring Lake Assisted Living for caring for him in the last years of his life, also Signature Home Health for the kind care.
A private service will be held at the Sylvan Cemetery in Sylvan, Texas under the direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
