James Russell Butler, 58, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Legend Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22nd, at the Mausoleum of Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery with Richard Sharrock officiating. A formal visitation will not be scheduled, however, friends and family may pay their respects at the funeral home. Russell, the son of Jay Paul Butler & Essie Ethel McCarrell Butler, was born July 11, 1959. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Paris. He enjoyed working puzzles, solitaire, and fishing, especially with his cousin Richard. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include a sister, Paula Butler Stone of Canton, an uncle, John Henry McCarrell of Garland along with a number of cousins and a host of friends & neighbors from Legend Healthcare. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Freedom Church, P. O. Box 1609, Paris, TX 75461.
