Gary W. Weaver, 76, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Paris Regional Medical Center. The family has scheduled memorial services for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24th, at Chicota Baptist Church with Rev. Rocky Burrow & Kenneth Keller officiating. The family will have a meal at the church following the service. Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home. Mr. Weaver, the son of Charles W. & Annie Wallace Weaver, was born June 21, 1937, in Powderly. He attended Chicota Schools, graduated from Paris High School and Paris Junior College. He served in the National Guard, being honorable discharged in 1961, and served in the U. S. Army, being honorable discharged in 1964. His career with General Motors spanned over 50 years. He worked thirty years at Friendly Chevrolet, ten years at Chuck Fairbanks Chevrolet, a number of years at Lowry Chevrolet, and when Lowry became Paris Chevrolet he was still asked to come in and work. He always enjoyed spending time at the dealership with friends and co-workers. Gary was an Elvis impersonator and spent countless hours at retirement homes and care centers performing. Being Elvis brought joy to his life as well as the many people for whom he performed. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Doris Sale and four brothers, Leonard Weaver, Edwin Weaver, James Weaver and Troy Weaver. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Jones Weaver, whom he married on Feb. 18, 1977, children, Lisa Shew & fiancé Oliver Mowat of Paris, Teel Weaver Ramey & husband Chad of Tyler, Edye Weaver O’Brien & husband Jim of Pensacola, FL, Greg Weaver of Mandeville, LA, Don Kenny Salter of Wichita, KS and Wendy Salter of Paris, grandchildren, Randy Overturf & wife Chrissie of Paris, Chris Overturf & wife Deborah of Blossom, Victoria Overturf of Paris, Petty Officer Patrick Badeaux of the U. S. Navy, Jamie Badeaux of New Orleans, LA, & Zach Mowat of Paris, great grandchildren, Brooklyn Caperton, Gabriel Caperton, Cameron Overturf, Elizabeth Overturf, Emilee Overturf, Kirsten Gamblin and Kaylee Knight, sisters, Barbara Keller and Pauline Salomon both of Chicota along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Chicota Baptist Church, P. O. Box 75, Chicota, Texas 75425.
