Charles Phillip Lowery, 66, of Paris, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at Paris Regional Health. Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home. Mr. Lowery, the son of William Lowery & Helen Bond Lowery, was born Oct. 18, 1956, in Tulsa, OK. He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He worked in real estate construction. Phil had a lifelong love of the spoken and written word. As a young child, he and his siblings would gather round at bedtime as their mother read to them the classics. In his middle age, he taught English as a second language and then English literature along the south Texas-Mexico border. As friends and family knew, wherever Phil went, his current novel went with him. Whether he was in a doctor’s waiting room, trying to stay entertained at an *NSYNC concert or winding down for bed, a book was always his closest companion. Phil was proud to have authored published poems such as “Brimble’s Curse,” and an illustrated children’s book titled, “The Bell that Couldn’t Sing,” under the pseudonym Mrs. Brimble. His father, William Lowery and a sister, Kimberly Lowery, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Shurley Lowery, his mother, Helen Lowery, two children, Adam Lowery & wife Kathy and Maggie Lowery, a grandson, Jack Lowery, and two brothers, Bill Lowery, Jr. & wife Jana and Jeff Lowery & wife Stella along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
