Charles William "Chuck" Cox Jr.

Charles William Cox Jr. “Chuck” July 13, 1942 - May 20, 2024 Charles William “Chuck” Cox Jr. was born in Baltimore, MD on July 13, 1942 to Emily and Charles Sr. and spent his childhood in Dundalk, MD. After a short stay in Venture CA, his parents settled down in Lakewood, CO, where he graduated from Alameda high school in 1960. He joined the United States Navy and worked as a radio-man in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Upon his discharge, he attended Oak Hills Bible College and started his career as a Minister. After pastoring two small, rural churches in Missouri, he moved to Grants Pass, OR where he met his future bride, Cindy Barker. They were married on December 27, 1980 and had 3 children, David, Jim, and Emily. To support his family, he began working construction, eventually becoming the supervisor of new home builds all over Southern California. After retiring, he and Cindy moved to Yuba City, CA and eventually to Paris, TX where he took his last breath after 43 1/2 years of marriage, with his entire family living within 5 miles of each other for the first time in over 2 decades. His family was everything to him, and he often bragged about how proud of his kids he was. His love of trains came in at a distant second. When not with family, he flexed his creativity by building model railroads, and grew his interest into a healthy and productive hobby. His model trains have been displayed in multiple model railroad expos throughout the years. Later in life his love of studying the Bible led him to try his hand as an author, and was near completing his commentary on the book of Revelations when he passed. Beyond his achievements and status in life, his gentle demeanor and kind heart will leave the most lasting impressions on everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. He will be truly missed. He is survived by his Mother, Emily Cox, his wife, Cindy Cox, his children, David Cox (Kimberly), Jim Cox, and Emily Cox (Todd), Grand Children, Connor and Sarah-Jane Cox, sister, Charlotte Robinette, 8 Nieces and Nephews, 17 Great-Nieces and Nephews, and close friends all over the US. He is preceded in death by his Father, Charles W. Cox, Sr. A Celebration of Chuck’s Life & Open House is scheduled from 3 – 6 p.m. Friday May 24th at the family home, 2335 E. Cherry St., Apt. 6, Paris, TX 75460. Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
