Rocco Piccone, 93, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2022, surrounded by family at his home in Paoli, PA. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and nonno whose main objective was to provide for his family and help them succeed in life.
Rocco was born on July 13, 1929, in Torricella Peligna, in the Abruzzo region of Italy and lived there with his father, Antonio, his mother, Concetta (DiFabrizio), and two sisters, Maria (Cianci) and Anna (D’Ambrosio). He grew up in this small mountain town working on the family farm, and, at the age of 13 began apprenticing as a stone mason.
The family immigrated to the United States in 1947 and settled in the Philadelphia area, where he met and married his wife Giacinta in 1966 and raised a family. He was very proud to have served in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon his return from the war, he helped build a successful stone masonry and construction company, Piccone & D’Ambrosio, with his brother-in-law Carlo D’Ambrosio, serving the Main Line. During his retirement, he especially loved his home in Cape May, NJ, where he spent many wonderful summers tending to his fig trees and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends.
Rocco is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Giacinta Piccone (Landolfi), daughter Linda (Richard) Hood, his sons Antonio (Mary) Piccone, and Rocco (Lori) Piccone, Jr. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Justin (Molly) Hood, Monica Hood, Xavier Piccone, Sofia Piccone, Sebastian Piccone, and Nicholas Piccone, along with one great-grandson, Greyson Hood.
