Lois Rea “Til” Albrecht passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024 at the age of 95 after a short fight with cancer as a resident at the Wellington in West Chester. Born in Philadelphia on June 13, 1929 to Henry and Marion Bauer, Lois earned the nickname “Til” as a teen, and kept it as her preferred name the rest of her life.
Til attended The Stevens School in Germantown, where she was active in athletics and music. She earned her BSN in nursing with honors from the University of Pennsylvania, and she remained an active alumna, devoted to Quaker basketball and football. She met the love of her life, Tom Albrecht, in Ocean City, New Jersey as teens on the beach, and enjoyed 42 years of marriage until he passed away from cancer in November, 1993.
A resident of Wayne and Devon for most of her adult life, she worked as a nurse early in her married life, then again once her sons were grown, at Devon Family Practice, where she enjoyed over 30 years of caring for patients.
Til was known for her tenacity and work ethic. Her three great loves were: her family, opera, and all things Philadelphia sports. She was a long-time member of Wayne Presbyterian Church, and remained active throughout life as a Tri Delt from her sorority days in college. Until 6 weeks before her passing, she swam 5 times a week.
After the age of 65, she traveled to the Middle East, China, Europe, Latin America, and cruised the Mediterranean on a sailing yacht multiple times.
She is survived by her sons Paul (d. Cindy) and Kirk (Sarah), her three grandsons Joshua (Shea), Nathan, and Zachary (Sarah), and two great-grandsons, Paxton and Hayes. She dearly loved her nieces Chris and Beth and their families. Special thanks to friends Fred and Kathy Pioggia.
A service of remembrance and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Alleva Funeral Home in Paoli at 12 pm. Private interment will be at Mount Peace Cemetery in Philadelphia. The family kindly requests no flowers
