Dolores, with her warm and welcoming nature, was a beacon of kindness in Valley Forge, PA, and Palm Beach County, Florida. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, a trait that endeared her to many. Her life was a testament to her selflessness, and she will be dearly missed. She was a long-time resident of Valley Forge, PA, and Palm Beach County, Florida, both in Boca Raton and Highland Beach. She also maintained summer homes in Ventnor City, NJ, and Avalon, NJ. Dolores was born in Philadelphia on December 10, 1929, to James and Amelia D’Adamo. She graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Girls. She married Vincent Del Raso, a construction executive who owned Belgrade Construction Inc., where she served as an officer and director.
Dolores was not just a resident, but a pillar of the community. Her volunteer work and philanthropy were instrumental in the success of many local institutions. She raised funds and served on committees for Archmere Academy, Villa Maria Academy, St. Aloysius Academy, and Malvern Prep. She also served on the Boca Raton Community Hospital Auxiliary board and was honored for her service by the Junior League of Boca Raton. Dolores and her husband Vincent were also early and long-time benefactors of the National Italian American Foundation.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Vincent, daughter Laura Melvin, and son Thomas.
While Dolores may have left us, her legacy lives on through her children. She is survived by her son Joseph (Anne) and daughter Bernadette Dougherty (Bill), who will continue to carry her spirit forward. She also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:45 on Tuesday, October 1st, at Our Lady of the Assumption, 35 Old Eagle School Road, Strafford, PA, with a mass to follow at 11:00.
