Claire M Finlan

Claire was born June 22, 1927 and was raised in Philadelphia by her parents, William and Marie (Goodfellow) Wisner. She graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School, where she played saxophone in the school band . After working various jobs including one at the Milton Roy Company, she met and married Jim Finlan Jr. in 1950. They bought a house in the then brand new Lakeside and Forsythia Gate neighborhoods in Levittown, PA, followed by a move to St. Norbert’s Park in Paoli, PA. This was to be home for 61 years. While sending all six children through the St. Norbert’s School, Claire was an active volunteer in fund raising programs, and in day to day school life from cafeteria work, to the playground at lunch. Later, she helped out by cleaning the Church and doing administrative work there. This was well into her eighties. Claire was an adoring wife, mother, and grandmother. She took pride in her family, loved to cook and bake, books, crafting and sewing. Claire passed away peacefully at the age of 95. She was a strong and positive role model, and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Claire, alongside her late husband Jim, lovingly raised, and is survived by six children, Robert Finlan, Kenneth Finlan (Margaret Mary), James Finlan (Alexis), Patricia Hildebrand (Mark), Kathleen Trankle, Michael Finlan (Karen), eleven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Claire is also survived by her sister Mary Ellen Gantert (Bob). Claire was preceded in death by her husband James F Finlan Jr, and brother Gerald Wisner.

Friends and relatives are invited to the visitation at 10:00am on Monday, February 6, 2023, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00am, both at St. Norbert Catholic Church, 50 Leopard Rd, Paoli, PA 19301.
