Carol Moran, age 86, of Berwyn, PA passed away peacefully on May 10, 2023 surrounded by family. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to William and Carolyn Gilbert on April 8, 1937, where she grew up with her younger sister, Lynn. She attended St. Agnes High School in Rockville Centre, NY where she made lifelong friends as a member of the choral group The Melodiers. She went on to earn her associates degree in Secretarial Studies at Hofstra College. While there, she had a blind date with George Moran, a cadet at the US Merchant Marine Academy. He became the love of her life and they shared over 50 wonderful years together.
Carol was predeceased by her parents Carolyn and William Gilbert, her husband George, and her sister and brother-in-law Lynn and Tony DiIorio. She is survived by her 7 children: Doreen Eberle (Chuck) of Alpharetta, GA, Patrick Moran of Berwyn, PA, Kathy LaGreca (John) of Spring City, PA, George Moran (Donna) of Eagleville, PA, Erin Fitzner (Eberhard) of Delmenhorst, Germany, Kerry Kaczorowski (Jason) of Chester Springs, PA, and Sharon Kay (Scott) of Romansville, PA. She was blessed with 11 loving grandchildren who brought her great joy: Tim, Emily, and Andrew LaGreca; Ryan and Alex Eberle; Jeremy, Samantha, and Sydney Kaczorowski; Kyra Fitzner; and Natalie and Riley Kay. She is also survived by 4 nephews who she loved dearly.
Carol was a stay-at-home mom who, together with George, created a fun and loving home and instilled a strong sense of family togetherness. Although family was the most important thing to Carol, she also cherished spending time with her many friends. She got great enjoyment in being actively involved in events like neighborhood picnics and Christmas caroling, organizing the church bazaar, and many others. Carol was a great home cook, skilled at sewing and crafts, and passed the creative gene on to her children. She started the Moran’s homemade Christmas ornament tradition, still going strong after over 40 years. Carol was an avid bowler for many years, and a long-time member of St. Monica’s parish. More recently, she looked forward to getting together with her soup group, the pinochle girls, the Merry Widows, and her brunch bunch after Sunday Mass.
Carol will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved her.
