Helen Arnetta Bridges was born in Louisville Ky. On April 3, 1920, to the union of her parents Millard Randoph and Berdie Bell Burton Cox. She was the youngest of nine siblings, all of whom preceded her in death.
In 1938 she married Louis Cornelius Arnold from this union there were four children: Louis Jr. (D) Chicago
III. Corinne Boseman Gregory(D) Detroit MI., Arnetta Grays, Lancaster CA., Mansfield Arnold, Chicago Ill.
Later in life Ms. Bridges married a second time to Murrell Bridges, to this union there were two children.
Steven Bridges, (wife) Deidre, Las Vegas NV., and Belverly J. Williams, (D) Prentiss Miss. Helen had the pleasure of having six children, eighteen grandchildren, fifty-eight great, great grandchildren, and twelve great, great, great grandchildren and a host of many nephews nieces, and cousins.
She was known as "Nana" to the family and friends and to the many children she baby sat for. In her earlier years she was a clerk typist for the US Airforce, furniture store receptionist, seamstress, decorator, and a pianist that played by ear. Her favorite song to play was "Danny Boy".
Nana was also known as the QVC Queen, her favorite TV program. She was delighted when her orders had "no shipping and handling".
When Nana turned 100 years old, many families and friends including Word of Life church, came to celebrate her birthdays and continue to celebrate them until her passing at 104 years old.
