Greg served his country with pride for eight years in the United States Navy as a decorated Seabee, deploying to Kuwait, South Korea, and twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. A true American hero, Greg made his contributions without seeking recognition, embodying the spirit of selfless service.
Following his military career, Greg pursued his passion for construction, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management. He worked as a Project Engineer with Granite Construction, applying the same dedication and work ethic that defined his time in the Navy.
In every aspect of his life, Greg lived the Seabee motto, “Construimus, Batuimus” (We Build, We Fight). This was evident not only in his professional achievements but also in his community involvement. As a baseball coach and board member for a local little league, Greg was committed to improving field conditions and expanding access to the sport, ensuring that every child had the chance to play.
Fatherhood was Greg’s greatest joy. He was an incredibly involved and loving parent who treasured playing catch with his son, golfing on weekends, and watching his daughter’s dance performances. His children, Savannah and Hunter-Scott, were his world.
As a husband, Greg was fiercely protective, supportive, and devoted to his wife, Lenore. He championed her every dream and faced every challenge by her side, celebrating each of her accomplishments with pride.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Lenore Sherman; his cherished children, Savannah and Hunter-Scott Sherman; his parents, Greg and Sherry Sherman Sr. as well as his Sister Shyra Smith. His loss will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
