Johnnie and the late Henry Rachel. Darryl attended Henry Clay Junior High and went to Gardena High School where Darryl graduated, Class of 1986. Darryl met and fell in love with Audrea in 1999, at American Advanced Career College in the city of Palmdale. They later bought their first home in Palmdale to raise their family. They married in 2005 in Kissimmee, Florida and later birthed their son Cameron in October 2010.
Darryl loved spending time with his family, taking trips to Vegas, fishing, barbequing, working, and making people happy. Darryl enjoyed his job at the Veterans Administration Hospital (VA) as a PSA and other various departments for 25 years. While working there Darryl made several good friends and they stayed close even during his retirement. Darryl retired from his job on his 49th Birthday. During his retirement he spent time with his family, traveling. Darryl often travelled to visit his siblings in Maryland and traveling to different places with his sister from Maryland to Vegas, Disney World, and Georgia to cheer her on for her bowling tournaments. They enjoyed each other so much that they teared up when they had to part ways. Darryl and Shirley always planned their next adventure a year in advance to make sure they saw each other every year. Darryl and Shirley had planned their next trip to take a seven day cruise with his family and hers in August of this year.
Darryl enjoyed going fishing in Ventura with his cousin Henry and other family and pals. Darryl would always catch fish and give them to different family members to cook and enjoy. Before he went fishing, he’d always meet up with his brother Anthony. Darryl and Anthony would spend time catching up talking about music and reminiscing on their precious memories shared over the years.
Darryl loved spending time with his children. He would always take them on small family vacation trips to Vegas, Lake Tahoe, San Diego, Arizona, Florida, Hawaii and Maryland. Darryl had a love of food and he made sure he passed it on to his children, by always giving them snacks, treats and taking them out to eat. Darryl and his wife’s favorite restaurant was Medranos and they loved spending family time there together. Darryl would always take family who visited from out of town to Medranos and they’d catch up over food and drinks. Soon the staff of Medranos became fond friends of Darryl’s and they’d share laughs. Darryl had a way of making people laugh and feel good. Darryl was extremely kind hearted, likeable, and he made friends wherever he went.
Darryl enjoyed watching football every Sunday during football season. Darryl favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. Darryl took his son Cameron to the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Texas where they had a lot of father son bonding time. Darryl made sure that Cameron had the time of his life. Darryl arranged for them to take a tour in the locker room and for Cameron to run a pass on the field. They enjoyed spending so much time together and Darryl loved teasing his wife Audrea when she tried to stop him from spoiling Cameron. Darryl pride and joy was his wonderful partner, best friend and wife of 21 years. Darryl adored her so much, because they were more than husband and wife, they were one.
Darryl is preceded in death, father Henry Rachel, his grandmother Ethel Wallace, grandfather Ceroy Pate and grandfather Calvin Jones that raised him. Darryl was loved by many, leaves to mourn his Wife Audrea Rachel Children: Dimetri, Darryl II, Darchelle, Kristian, Alexis and Cameron. Grandchildren: Lundyn, Dylan, Sabryiah, Dimetri Jr., Ka’leigh, Royal and Khamari Mother: Johnnie Rachel Siblings: Anthony, Shirley, Kenneth, Johnathan, Derrick, Rochedia, and a host of nephews and nieces and close friends.
