Roy B. Cherwin passed away peacefully at the age of 97 in his home in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, on October 13, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his children Audrey Cherwin (JB Allison), of Healdsburg, CA, Daniel Cherwin (Stacey Bolger), of Johnson City, TN, and Hilary Ryan (Matthew Ryan), of Royal Palm Beach, FL, three grandchildren Brandon Cherwin, William Cherwin and Jessie Chavez (Michael Chavez ), and great-grandson Mitchell Chavez. Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joyce, and siblings Albert, Barbara Ross, Erwin, and Francis Berman. Roy was born in Portland, ME to Harry and Sarah Cherwin on 9-12-1925. He grew up in the Bronx, NY and served in the Pacific during WWII as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Upon discharge, Roy trained as an artist at what became NYC's School of Visual Arts. Roy and Joyce married in NYC in 1953. Roy worked as a commercial artist and Art Director on Madison Avenue for close to 40 years. After his retirement, they relocated to Sonoma County, CA where they made numerous friends and enjoyed many years of traveling and painting the beautiful Northern California landscapes. Roy and Joyce celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2013. Roy moved to Florida recently to be closer to family and the wonderful care of his daughter Hilary. He was thankful for a full and blessed life. A celebration of his life will be planned.
