Victor M. Hernandez, 72, held his last formation 20 July 2023 at Holmes Regional Memorial Hospital). He was the Battle Buddy (husband) of Dee Hernandez. They shared 25 years of Army married life together.
Born in Moca, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Cleofe and Maria Hernandez. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969. He attended basic training and was assigned to the 1/66 Signal Brigade with duty Viet Nam. He attended all non-commissioned officer (NCO) schools culminating in the United States Sergeants Major Academy the pinnacle of the NCO ranks. In 1997 the was assigned to First Infantry Division, in Wurzburg Germany where he met, his favorite battle buddy Dee. This began their Army tours together. Both deployed to the Middle East in different locations, making it necessary to volunteer for secret missions. Vic loved his country and he always took care of Soldiers and Battles. He was a “Soldiers’ Soldier”. His motto, was God, Army, family, country and he lived it.
A life-long Catholic, Vic reaffirmed his relationship with the Lord and lived faithfully until his last formation. He enjoyed golf, spending time with his family watching western movies, Karate flicks, and reading. He will be remembered for his humor and stubbornness.
He is survived by wife, Dorothy, children Victor Jr. (Yissel) Luis (Jen) and Ileana, Cedric, and Terric (Taylor) 4 brothers, Jorge (Ana Luz), Cesar (Jacqueline), Luis (Ivette) and Wilfredo, 4 sisters Maria, Iris, Mirna (Hector), and Maribel (Wilson),13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Cleofe and Maria.
The celebration of life service will be held on 28 July 2023 at Fountainhead Funeral Home at 11:00am. Graveside service to follow at 2:15 with interment at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. The viewing/visitation will be held 27 July 2023 from 6pm-8pm at Fountainhead Funeral Home.
