Norma Jean (Snyder) Armstrong of LaVergne, Tennessee, born September 14, 1931, passed away on December 25, 2016 when Jesus called her home to be with him, his Angels, her beloved husband, Howard Hartman Armstrong and her kind hearted son, Howard Roy Armstrong. She is preceded by her mother and father, Emma and Archie Snyder, and her 7 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Linda D'Amico (Michael) of FL, Sharon LaCourt of TN, and Christine Miller (Keith) of TN, nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Norma grew up the youngest of 8 children in a small farming township in Ohio, where she met Howard and they married on March 16, 1949. They never parted again until Howard passed away on July 19, 2007.
Norma Jean or Aunt Jeannie, as her family and friends called her, was a kind, loving and strong willed woman who was born during the Great Depression and knew how to make a penny last. She taught her children how to enjoy life with little so there would be more tomorrow. She was always there to drop everything to share a laugh, give a hug, or tell you to straighten up and fly right. She always had a light in her eye, a glimmer of something special that would light up your heart and warm your soul.
Norma enjoyed reading, sewing, camping, boating, traveling and crafts. She was not big on watching TV, but every weekday you could find her watching "her show" with a cup of coffee for an hour. When she was younger, she could be found at the school, baseball field, church or at a local high school football field on Friday night. She was always there for her children.
Norma did not grow up a Catholic, but converted and had an unwavering passion for her religious beliefs. Norma and Howard volunteered daily at St. Vincent De Paul where they enjoyed helping others less fortunate than themselves. She raised her family in the Catholic Church and was always at Mass on Sundays until she could no longer drive herself there but she never stopped praying.
We will all be sad that she is gone, but will rejoice in knowing that she is with the Lord and Angels in heaven. God Bless.
The visitation will be held on Friday, December 30th from 6 to 8 PM at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock St. SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909.
