It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Ben Satterfield, Jr., a resident of Palm Bay, FL, on September 30, 2024, at the age of 75. He was born to James and Josephine Satterfield on November 20, 1948, in Wauchula, FL.
James is survived by his devoted wife, Diane Satterfield, and their two children, Kimberley Satterfield and James Satterfield, III. He was a loving grandfather to Brittany (Chewning), Jami (Page), Katelyn Satterfield, and James Satterfield. His legacy continues through his grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He is also remembered by his sister, Barbara Reigle.
James began his service in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and continued to proudly serve our nation for 22 years retiring as a Senior Master Sergent in 1989 at Mountain Home, ID. After retiring, James returned to Florida and began working for McDonald Douglas at the Kennedy Space Center, and then for United Launch Alliance at Cape Canaveral, retiring in 2014.
James's unwavering love for his family was his defining trait. His devotion to his children and grandchildren was unparalleled. He always made it a point to spend quality time with his loved ones, proving that family was his top priority.
After his family, James's favorite hobby was freshwater fishing. Friends and family always knew where he would be during the fishing season, sitting on his boat on a lake, fishing with a big smile on his face. Although quiet, everyone who had the privilege of meeting him would become fast friends for whom he would do anything. He will be deeply missed by all.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home located at 7359 Babcock Street SE in Palm Bay, FL, from 10 a.m. where family, friends, and those whose lives he touched can gather to honor his memory and celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to The National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation (NPCF) in memory of James Satterfield.
