He was the loving husband of Gretchen L. Horn, who preceded him in death in 2013. Born in Crooksville, Ohio; he graduated from Ohio University where he was a 4-year member of the Bobcat baseball team. He began his career in the insurance business in Akron, Ohio. He was President of Herberich Hall Harter Agency, the Evans Agency, and Vice President of Marsh & McLennan.
While in Akron, Charlie was Akron Children’s Hospital Board Chairman, Rotary Club President, World Series of Golf General Chairman, and Fairlawn Country Club President. He enjoyed golf, bowling, painting, playing guitar, and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
After raising their family in Akron, he and his wife retired to Marco Island, FL, where he was a member of the Marco Island Lutheran Church, the Island Country Club, Rotary Club, founder of the Collier County 100 Club, and President of the Marco Island Center for the Arts.
Charlie is survived by his loving daughters Catherine Dritenbas and Nancy Chonko, grandchildren Alan (Alyssa), Nadine (Robbie), Ben (Sarah), Lia (David), Logan (Shanna), Kylie (Alex) and 10 wonderful great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Leroy Horn, mother Jessie Stought Horn, sisters Jean Hammer, and Jackie Williams, and son-in laws Paul Dritenbas and Arnie Chonko.
He was a kind and loving man who will be remembered and missed by many.
A family memorial service will be celebrated on Marco Island.
