It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phyllis Mary Campo, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully on December 7, 2024, at the age of 74. Phyllis was born on September 25, 1950 in Marettimo, Sicily to Francesco and Rosina Torrente. She immigrated to the United States as a young child along with her brother, Vincenzo and sister, Carmela to Monterey where she spent the rest of her life and built a loving family and led a fulfilling life.
Phyllis was a devoted mother and is survived by her two sons, Joe and Frank Jr, and their wives, Rochelle and Cary. Her love extended to her five cherished grandchildren: Frank III, Chris, Mia, Gianna, and John, each of whom brought her immense joy. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Frank Sr., who was the love of her life and partner in both family and adventure.
Phyllis was a graduate of Monterey High School in 1968, and later opened her own small business, The Flower World in Monterey. Throughout her life she battled and beat numerous illnesses while keeping a positive attitude. Most of all, Phyllie was a hostess at-heart. She had a deep love for cooking, often opening her home to family and friends, creating memorable gatherings that were filled with laughter, warmth, and delicious food. Phyllie was especially known for her Christmas Eve morning open house where she would make sfingi for anyone and everyone. She enjoyed traveling, always eager to plan vacations for her family and friends. Phyllie also enjoyed playing the slots, always looking forward to the next tournament or jackpot. She was a member of the Italian Catholic Federation. Monterey Elks Lodge #1285, and Festa Italia.
Visitation will be held at 9:00 am at The Paul Mortuary on Thursday, December 19, 2024 with a funeral service at 10:30 am followed by a committal service at San Carlos Cemetery in Monterey
