Born in Utica, NY in 1930, she was the daughter of Dr.
John Francis Kelley and Lulla Grenon Kelley.
She was raised in Utica and New Hartford, New York
spending all of her summers at Raquette Lake with her
Grandparents, Maggie and Joe Grenon and the family
camp at White Lake, both located in the Adirondack
Mountains.
She attended New Hartford High School and loved athletics;
being a member of the Basketball, Track, Swimming,
Hockey, Softball, Volleyball and Cheerleader teams. She
was awarded the Outstanding Girl Athlete of 1948; her father
was proud as he had played football for Notre Dame
under Coach Knute Rockne.
She had a rough time with learning Latin but finally
passed just before graduation.
She then attended Cortland State Teachers College in NY
State and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial & Business School
in Boston, MA.
Upon certifying at Gibbs, four gals went to Philadelphia,
rented an apartment in Rittenhouse Square and Pat
worked at Furness Withy Co., LTD, who are agents for
various European Steamship Lines.
After two years, she and one roommate took a greyhound
bus to see the country to California. Long Beach
looked great. Pat began to work for Pacific Far East Line,
A Steamship Company and worked there for 8 years.
In 1961, she married Hank Blatnik, a building contractor
and they moved to The Village of Carmel Valley. Their
children were born in 1962 and 1963.
After the children started school, Pat went back to
work; 20 years for Communications Satellite Corp at their
Jamesburg International Earth Station and 11 years for
AT&T which purchased the Earth Station in 1988.
Her husband Hank died in May 1985 and Pat remarried
in 1988 to Lew Harbin, a retired Heavy Equipment
Mechanic who lost his wife shortly after the death of
Hank. Lew died in 2000.
She leaves her son, John Blatnik and his Wife, Terri of
Carmel Valley, Daughter Kelly Barnes of San Jose, Step-
Daughter Margaret (Sugar) Geer of Redding, CA. She
leaves 6 Grandchildren who were the joy of her life –
Tyler and Marissa Barnes, Danielle and William Blatnik
and Jeffrey and Christine Brooks.
She leaves the family of her brother, James Kelley, who
died February 18, 2007, his Wife Bea, of Waterford, CT.
Niece Karen and her Husband Dennis of Old Lyme, CT
and their children Kayla and Connor. Nephew Kevin
and his Wife Robin of Duxbury, MA and their children,
Michelle and Brian.
She also leaves Step-children, Sharon Rezendes of
Hanford, CA and Darrell Harbin of Sacramento, CA.

MOUNTAINS.
A Memorial Mass service will be on January 7, 2015 at
10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church
in Carmel Valley Village.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, kindly consider
a donation in Patty’s name to the SPCA for Monterey
County, Hospice of the Monterey Peninsula or the
Disabled Veterans Association.
