Maria Zarate, 88, of Carmel Valley passed away peacefully on April 13, 2022, surrounded by her family, and loved ones.
Maria was born on December 31, 1933, to Rodolfo Chavez and Virginia Carrillo in Lima Peru. After graduating from High School in 1950, she met Victor Zarate and they wed in 1952, going on to have four children, Elsa, Hugo, Elizabeth, and Claudia.
Maria immigrated to the United States in 1987 and remained an amazing mother and grandmother to twelve grandchildren and a great-grandmother to seven.
Maria’s family will be scattering her ashes out in the Bay on April 30, 2022, a spot that was meaningful to Maria for several reasons.
