Pacific Grove ~ Margaret Blevins Tyler, 96, known affectionately as “Mim” to her family, passed from this earth with her daughter at her side. She was born in Troy, KS to Charles F. and Verne E. Blevins, the youngest of five with four older brothers. Margaret taught in Doniphan, KS County schools for several years, including two years in one-room country schoolhouses. She married William H. Tyler of Kansas City, KS in August, 1940. After her husband completed medical school and residency training in Kansas and Iowa, they moved to Muskegon, MI in 1948 where they established his medical practice and raised their family. They retired to Sun City, AZ in 1979 and to Pacific Grove, CA in 1989.
Margaret was an avid bridge player and enjoyed the many friends she met through the game. She remained a competitive player up until her final days.
Margaret is survived by her sons, William “Tip” (Angela) Tyler of Pacific Grove, CA and John (Elizabeth) Tyler of Madisonville, TN; her daughter, Patricia Tyler Potter of Monterey; her grandchildren, Tyler Potter of Santa Barbara, CA, Sarah Potter of Monterey, Jennifer (Josh) Turpin of Atlanta, GA, Hilary (Dan) Beebe of Knoxville, TN and her great-grandchildren, Aine Turpin and Lucas Beebe. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years and her son, C. Thomas Tyler.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this Wednesday, October 26 @ 1:00 PM at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church in Pacific Grove followed by burial at El Carmelo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Christopher Reeve Foundation, 636 Morris Turnpike, Suite 3A, Short Hills, NJ, 07078, the Alzheimer’s Association, 182 El Dorado Street, Monterey, CA, 93940 or the donor's favorite charity.
