A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, November 15, 2012, from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 2-3 p.m.
Mr. Shepherd was born on September 30, 1929 in Michigan City, Indiana to Roy Elmer and Dora Brooks Shepherd. He served in the 101st Airborne in Vietnam, and retired from the Army. Edward received two Bronze Star Medals; Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster; Air Medal; and Vietnam Service Medal. After his retirement, he worked for Civil Service in Ft. Rucker, and enjoyed being a member of the R.O.M.E.O. Coffee Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Elmer and Dora Brooks Shepherd; and a sister, Jane Blair.
Mr. Shepherd is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ingeborg Shepherd of Daleville; son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Sandy Shepherd of Richland, WA; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Greg Wilkes of Troy; brother-in-law, Red Blair; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Edward’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org.
