Elsa Nunez, 94, of Oxnard, CA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 22, 2022.
Our loving mother Elsa, was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico to Agustine Lopez and Hermenegilda Mercado. At the age of 19, she moved to New York where she met and married Rafael T. Montalvo. They had three children together.
She is survived by her children Vivian (Paul), Ralph, Lorraine, her sister Selenia, her grandchildren Chris, Paul Jr (Pam), Ruben, Alina, Don Q (Jordan), Cory, great grandchildren Christina (Gary), Alexis, Alex, Madelyn, Luca, great great grandson Ashton in addition to several nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.
While growing up, everyone gathered at our house in Cambria Heights, NY. Our mother looked forward to hosting family and friends, making sure everyone enjoyed themselves. The house always smelled so good from her Puerto Rican cooking and lasagna, one of her specialties. She enjoyed meringue, salsa and ballroom dancing. She was fond of crocheting and spent a lot of her time solving word find puzzles. She loved watching her novelas and Walter Mercado on television.
She will always be in our thoughts and remain in our hearts forever. Rest in peace Mom…we love you.
