Lawrence “Larry” Porter Hastings, Jr., 74 of Winter Springs, FL, passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side on June 16, 2018. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut on May 18, 1944. Larry attended Hopkins Grammar School and graduated from Stetson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He was married to Nancy Wands Hastings and recently celebrated their 51st anniversary together. Larry worked at United Advertising in New Haven and later owned two businesses (Morrow’s Nut House and Vie de France) in the Orlando area. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Oviedo, The Gideon Society, and Sigma Phi Epsilon. Larry had a passion for music, baseball, and making those around him continuously laugh. He was loved dearly by his friends and family and was always able to find laughter and joy even in the most serious situations. He is survived by his wife Nancy Wands Hastings, daughter Amanda Hastings Tully, grandchildren Zoey and Porter Tully, nieces Noelle Fable and Noelle Wands, nephews Court Fable, Shane Fable, Brian Fox, and Austin Wands, and his dog Buddy. He is predeceased by his parents Lawrence Porter Hastings, Sr. and Katherine Wheeler Hastings and sister Caroline Fable. Donations may be made to The First United Methodist Church of Oviedo, The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, or donate time/money to any school to support education. We would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and staff at Winter Park Memorial Hospital and Florida Hospital East for their loving care and support during his illness. Arrangements will be handled through Baldwin-Fairchild, Oviedo. A celebration of life will be held 11AM July 21, 2018 at First United Methodist Church Oviedo.
