John Duncan Mahaffey, Jr, age 83 of Oviedo, FL went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 13, 2021. He was born in Hume, NY on March 22, 1937 to John Duncan Mahaffey and Genevieve Newcomb Mahaffey.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Florida State University and received his law degree from the University of Florida, going on to practice law in the Orlando area for 50 years. He was the first general counsel for what is now the University of Central Florida.
He was a member of Rotary for nearly 50 years, received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award, annually rang the Salvation Army Christmas bell, and delivered Meals on Wheels. He was annually recognized for providing Pro Bono legal services.
Model Ts were Jack’s passion, he restored nearly a dozen Model Ts and helped countless other Model T enthusiasts in many capacities. He was the general counsel for the Model T Ford Club International for over 20 years and participated in dozens of Model T tours all over the country.
He married Marsha Jean Henry Deane on September 30, 2019. He is survived by his daughters, Jill Keane (husband Joseph and daughter Jordan), Starling Hendriks (husband Craig and daughters Madeline and Beatrice). He is also survived by his step-daughter, Lydia Robinson (husband Bryan and daughter a Hannah) and step-son Henry Deane. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Frances Herzog.
A service for the Witness to the Resurrection was held at the First Methodist Church of Geneva on February 16, 2021. Burial will be at the East Koy Cemetery in Portagesville, NY.
