George was beloved and adored by extended family in California.
George was born in Miami, Florida. He attended Auburndale High School before attending the
University of Florida where he was a proud member of the Gator Nation and Sigma Phi Epsilon
fraternity. George married the love of his life, Dawn Marie Dietz (née MacKenzie) of California,
and they settled in Oviedo, Florida for over 30 years, where they raised many rescued
Labradors. George was a self-employed entrepreneur, and enjoyed working for himself. He
spent fall weekends hosting Gator watch parties at his home for his fellow fraternity brothers. He
and Dawn loved to travel, and some of their favorite destinations included Italy, Scotland,
England and New England. George was a born entertainer, with a voice so loud that a
microphone was never necessary, although he would never turn down an opportunity to grab a
microphone if one was available. He was an avid golfer, and loved spending his time on the
course.
George was a lover of life who lived by the motto “Every Day is a Gift”. He was known for his
heart of gold, and made friends everywhere he went with his larger than life personality. He will
be remembered fondly by his beloved wife, family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please send
donations to Labrador Rescue Retriever of Florida, https://lrrof.org in George's name.
