Thomas J. Lynch

Thomas J. (Tom) Lynch of Shawnee, KS passed away in Rochester, MN at Methodist Hospital on Saturday March 31, 2012, due to health complications. Tom was born June 1, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois. He married Carolyn in 1963, and was a loving and devoted husband for 48 years. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northwest Missouri State in 1965, and served his country in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970.

Tom spent 38 years as an independent insurance agent. He began his career with Crum and Forester, and later joined Mo-Kan Insurance Agency, where he partnered with his mentor, Ed Andresevic. In 1990 Tom started Assurance Associates and acted as owner/agent for 17 years. Tom was an avid golfer who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. There was never a shortage of smiles or laughter when Tom was around. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, William and Lois Lynch, his brother Michael Lynch, and nephew Mark Lynch. Mr. Lynch is survived by: his loving and caring wife, Carolyn; son, Matt Lynch; daughter, Kristie (David) Lenz; four grandchildren: Dylan, Blake, Alexia, and Isabel; brother, John (Peggy) Lynch, of Estes Park, CO; and sister, Linda (Denny) Kurzawa, of Winfield, IL. Visitation will be held Monday, April 9, 2012, 5 – 8 pm, at McGilley and Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Atonement Lutheran Church, 9948 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS, with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS.
