Linda Ruth Thomas, age 80, of Basehor, Kansas passed away peacefully on Friday, September 1, 2023 at home surrounded by family. She was born in Sedalia, Missouri on August 5, 1943. Linda and Lowell were married on July 12, 1960. Their love story is one-of-a-kind, one only movies are made of. When Linda was asked what her secret to a long marriage was, her answer was simple, “Never go to bed mad”. When Lowell was asked the same question, his answer was also simple, “Do what Momma wants”. They would both laugh!
Linda enjoyed cooking, gardening and golfing with life-long friends. Her biggest pleasure was always taking care of others. She loved gospel music. Her favorite song was “In The Garden”.
Linda taught us all how to love unconditionally. Since her illness a year ago, she has lived in the moment, not taking one second for granted.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Leo and Dorothy Kreisel; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Charles Anglin; nephew, Paul Anglin; brother, Kenneth Kreisel; and niece, Julie McCullough.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Lowell Thomas; son, Mark (Jennifer) Thomas; daughter Tracy (David) Lawver; sister, Judy Burg; five grandchildren, Lindsey, Lauren, Bailey, Kelsey and Kati; four great-grandchildren, Annalee, Christopher, Lily and Harper.
The family would like to thank everyone at Crossroad’s Hospice for the wonderful and dignified care she received this past year. We would also like to thank Andrea Malish, who cared for Linda and brought even more joy and love into Linda’s life this past year.
A Celebration of their lives together will be held after her loving husband goes to meet his bride.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mcgilleyhoge.com for the Thomas family.
