Helen was born in Winona, Minnesota. Helen cherished spending time with her twenty-three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She met her husband working as an inward operator for AT&T. After moving to Kansas, she dedicated her time to raising her children. When she returned to work, she invested many years at the Jones Store Co, ultimately retiring from there. She always had many knitting projects underway, enjoyed baking, and made the best cookies. Cheering on our local sports teams alongside her husband and playing weekly card or Bingo games with her friends were her favorite pastimes. She was a very competitive card player and thought you were cheating if she somehow lost. On Tuesdays, Helen could be found volunteering at Kaleidoscope. She had a sensitivity and sincerity that attracted others. Daily phone calls and luncheons with her longtime girlfriends and visiting amongst neighbors were special to her. Helen appreciated a good joke and will be remembered as being kind and witty. Her heart was always generous with love and devotion for every family member and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Cora Anderson; siblings, Donald (Colleen) Anderson and Ruth (Lyle) Herman; daughter, Linda Kohler, and granddaughter, Stephanie Kohler.
Helen is survived by her loving husband, William, of sixty-six years. She leaves behind her children: Ruth (Douglas) Catloth, David (Melissa) Schmit, Valerie (Robert) Slinkard, Christine (Michael) O’Connor, Timothy (Suzanne) Schmit, Elizabeth Schmit, Jane (Jeremy) Fisher and son-in-law Jeffrey Kohler.
