DJ Murphy, 88, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the Overland Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM, Monday, May 2, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka, KS. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
DJ was a bookkeeper for Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and retired after 30 years of employment there. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Jayne Metsker and son-in-law, Dan Metsker, of Overland Park, and her son, John Rorry Murphy and his wife, Cheryl Murphy, of Lee’s Summit, MO. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, by 4 great grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Louise Steinhoff, of Topeka, KS. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Zane Murphy, and by two sons: Danny Ray Murphy and Edward Douglas Murphy.
