When he was 2 years old, his parents moved to Overland Park, KS. David grew up in Overland Park and Lenexa, KS. He attended Rosehill Elementary School, Holy Trinity Catholic School, and Hillcrest Middle School in Johnson County. David graduated from Shawnee Mission West in 1983 and then went on to attend Pittsburg State University. While David was in Pittsburg, KS, he went to school and worked in the food service industry. David remained in Pittsburg, where he became the owner of Pyramid Pizza. David resided there for 11 years then eventually moved back to Lenexa, KS. While in Lenexa he met and went on to marry Jeannette Dargon in Las Vegas on September 28, 1996. They moved to Overland Park where they raised two sons, Cole Kelley and Brandon Dargon. He worked 26 years at Ricoh up until he was diagnosed with advanced stage 4 esophageal cancer.
David loved football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, his dogs and going to the beach. He enjoyed cooking, trivia and watching movies. Some of David’s favorite pastimes were going on long walks in the park and spending time with his friends.
David is survived by his wife, Jeannette Kelley; children, Cole Kelley (Son) and Brandon Dargon (Stepson) and his wife, Brandi Dargon; mother, Beverly Kelley; and step-grandson, Luckie Dargon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Kelley; grandfather, Hiram Kelley; grandmother, Edyth Kelley; grandfather, Marvin Rowland; and grandmother, Marguerite Rowland.
There will be a celebration of life service the springtime held at Shawnee Mission Park, Shawnee, KS for David at his favorite place he liked to walk the dogs and spend time talking to God. Details will be announced at a future date.
