Loving husband of Deborah Pelton. Proud father to Pat Tobin (Jaime Burke) and Maureen Tobin (Pierre Levesque). Gramps will be dearly missed by loving grandchildren Julia and Patrick Levesque and Liam, Joseph and Clare Tobin. Eldest son of the late Wilfrid James Tobin and Marian Frances (Barry) Tobin. Survived by his brother Peter Tobin (Lorna Kingston) and sister-in-law Joanne Tobin (predeceased by Paul Tobin and George Barry). Predeceased by wife Eileen (Burke) Tobin.
Graduate of St. Patrick's College High School, Ottawa, and St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Bill's career took him across Canada, including work with the Iron Ore Company of Canada in northern Canada and with the federal government, most notably at Parks Canada.
Bill was passionate about amateur sport, as a student/athlete at university, a coach of his children's minor league teams in Nepean, and later as a recreational softball player. A life-long volunteer, Bill was very active in his community, including with the Irish Society of the National Capital Region, serving as President. He will be greatly missed by his many friends, especially in Borden Farm and his neighbours on Welkin Crescent.
The family wishes to extend its gratitude to the various medical professionals who provided Bill excellent care, particularly the nurses of Bayshore Home Services (Alex, Jessica and Tanesha), the Champlain LHIN, and Dr. Mankal.
Visitation on Sunday, January 9, from 2 to 4 pm at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road. Those who wish to attend are asked to call the funeral home to register their time. Proof of vaccination status is required.
Funeral Mass on Monday, January 10th at 11 am at St. Augustine Parish at 1060 Baseline Road in Ottawa.
