Ronald Gordon Fisher

He was the son of Gordon Fisher and Rose Kovacick of Rouyn-Noranda. Ron was the beloved husband of Kathy Fisher for 36 years. He leaves in sorrow his daughter Erica Fisher, his son David Fisher (Rachel Borzecki) as well as his precious grandson Samuel Fisher Toms and granddaughter Maddison Fisher. He also leaves to mourn his brother Jim Fisher (Sue Roy) of Sudbury, Helen Fisher of Rouyn-Noranda, Linda Lutecki (Kaz) of North Bay, and Donna Fisher (Jean Yves Baril) of Rouyn-Noranda. Ron will be missed by Kathy’s mother, Darlene Gobeil, her sister Wendy Derickx and husband Albert Derickx, and her brother Marc Gobeil and wife Clarisse Karangwa. He will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews as well as his great nieces and nephews.

Ron was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. He grew up in Rouyn-Noranda. Before moving to Ottawa in 1974 to attend Ottawa University, Ron backpacked across Europe and Northern Africa for a year. After graduating from Ottawa University with a Bachelor of Administration in 1977, Ron embarked on a long career in the financial services industry. He married Kathy, the love of his life, in 1986. He was blessed with two children Erica and David, which he adored. In 2019 and 2020, he was blessed once again with two grandchildren, Samuel and Maddison. He fell in love with his little Buddy and little Missy from the first day they were born.

Kathy and her children would like to thank all the friends and family who visited or called Ron while he was in the hospital. A special thanks goes out to the wonderful palliative doctors and nurses at the Bruyère as well as the doctors and nurses at the Ottawa Hospital who cared for Ron over the last 9 years while he was battling cancer.

All who knew Ron are invited to attend a public visitation on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home and Chapel, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa. A celebration of life will take place on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel with a reception to follow.
