As part of The Ottawa VolksWALKING Community, your Dear MOM (Joyce) and your Dear DAD ( Peter) welcomed us to Ottawa in 1995.  We became "FRIENDS" and enjoyed many, many "WALKS", together.
We have been so, so BLESSED + to have had them in our lives.

It has been with deep sorrow that we learned of Peter's passing.  We send our sincere condolences to the Taylor Family. Peter will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He has been a true friend, and fellow RCR to myself and my wife, Joyce.    Robert (Bud) Jones.

We were so saddened to read of Uncle Peter's passing.  We so enjoyed Aunt Joyce and Uncle Peter's visits to Nova Scotia, and particularly his jokes!  He was a wonderful and caring person.  Cynthia and David and your families, we're thinking of you and keeping you in our prayers.

Emily and Thomas have fond memories of their pinecone fights with your Dad under the big tree in the front yard even when he was 80. Watching them it was hard to figure out which one was the biggest "kid". We will be forever grateful for the time and attention he showed our "Rascals". Rodney and Dianne were truly blessed to have had such wonderful next door neighbors and all of us shared their good fortune. From Joyce's Easter Bunny Buns and Cereal Christmas Trees to Peter's jokes and stories, we all basked in the warmth, generosity and love of this amazing couple. May they rest in peace together.

Dave, Mary and boys, sorry to hear of your dad and grandfather's passing. He sounds like he touched many people's lives in the time he was here and you will miss him deeply.

The wing of Ottawa 2 East just won't be the same without Peter's smile & salute. Peter befriended my Dad, Jim Finnie when he first arrived at The Perley & from that grew a very special bond. Peter had so much energy, & always a big smile to all. He loved to walk & when possible to be outside feeding the duck's. I salute you Peter you lived life to the fullest right to the end.

Shirley and I read with sadness this morning in the CH, the sudden passing of an old friend, your dad Peter. We are sorry we did not know he was a long time guest in Rideau Pearly as our younger grand daughter Amy who graduated on the nursing course this Spring,  and whose wedding we attended in August, spent some time there as part of her training and she would have really enjoyed a chat or two with Peter.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I had the pleasure of hearing many a humours stories you all encountered together over the years and I'm sure the memories will comfort you all during this time. Thinking of you all.

My deepest condolences to the Taylor family on your loss. 
Mr. Taylor became a cherished friend to Jim Finnie at the Pearly and I had the pleasure of his company on many visits where he showed his wonderful caring demeanor and sense of humor.

I served with and have known young Peter from the days of Korea.  He always was an engaging young man and a credit to himself and together with his lovely Joyce always were alt all times worthwhile friends.  His passing is a shock to me as he is somewhat younger than I am.  I did niot see much of him over the years but at times managed to touch base with him.  He was a joy to know and call a friend. I remember Pete Taylor well from our days in Germany in the 60's...a very fine soldier and gentleman possessed of a great sense of humour and pleasant demeanor.  An Officer who "got things done"..!  Old School... he  and his lovely wife, Joyce, set an excellent example to all.  PRO PATRIA

Uncle Peter was a wonderful man.  My heart goes out to Cynthia, David and the Grandchildren.  Thinking of you all at this time.

It was with shock and sadness that we learned of Peter's sudden passing and on behalf of his STRIDE family, I extend to Peter's family our heartfelt sympathies.

For over 20 years, Peter (and his buddy, Bob Screaton) volunteered their time, skills, talents and hearts to working at the STRIDE Wheelchairs Plus Recycling Depot.  Each Tuesday and Thursday,and usually no matter the weather, they would bus to the Depot with dedicated enthusiasm and such a willingness to help others. 
 
Their humour was always appreciated, as was Pete's teasing.  He would often come into the office to raid the cookie jar and see his friend, Lincoln (a service dog), who, if allowed, would have appreciated and enjoyed a bit of Pete's cookie. At times, Pete gave Lincoln's  owner more of a challenge in obedience than did Lincoln!

Many years ago, Peter created a real treasure for his Grandsons as he took the base of an old power wheelchair and made a powered car for his "boys" complete with a golf ball for the top of the gear shift.  We still have a picture of that car on our bulletin board.

Peter was creative and enjoyed exercising that creativity as he went about making a variety of useful equipment for the Depot.  One that still brings about a laugh is a sandblasting unit on which he labelled "right" and "left" hands!

When health and age negated his ability to continue his volunteering with us, he kept in touch and when we visited him at the Perly, he always wanted to know how things were going and encouraged us to keep working.

We miss his presence, his laughter, his teasing and his smile but we feel his aura when near the workbench he shared with Bob where still hangs his denim apron.

We are so grateful for all he gave to us on his journey and know that he is now reunited with those whom he loved here on earth who awaited his arrival for his new journey. 

Thank you, Peter for your caring heart.  Well done, thou good and faithful servant.
