Marjorie was born May 14, 1921 in Montreal, Quebec, daughter of the late William Betts and Gertrude Demers.
Predeceased by her loving husband, Sidney Simon (June 28, 1996), who fondly called her Betsy, and her only brother, Kenneth “Kennie” Betts (May 3, 2013), Betsy will be lovingly remembered by her nephew, Steve Betts (Evelyn), as well as Ann, Kevin & Kyle, Zobie & Conrad, and many friends that both Betsy, and Sidney, met throughout the years.
Betsy and Sidney enjoyed a loving spousal & business relationship that included travel here and abroad, making many friends, and enjoying a passion for antiques & clothes, discovering little treasures along their journey, and most importantly, their love for their doggies, including, most recently to pass, Baby and Pistache.
Betsy met Sidney when she was teaching ballroom dancing, and enjoying modeling, which was influenced by her late aunt Bertha (Demers) Duggan, wife of the late Frank Duggan.
Betsy was a charming, fun loving, generous, and uniquely astute lady, with a great sense of humour. She loved fashion & shopping, with a very keen eye for complimentary colours and accessorizing, especially with hats and jewelry.
Betsy’s generous and charming nature touched many people, and will be missed by her extended family and friends.
A service will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 2:00pm in Cote des Neiges Cemetery, 4601 Cote des Neiges Road, Montreal, Quebec, H3V 1E7, where she will be laid to rest in the family plot (P-01805). The procession will begin at the Administration office upon her arrival from McEvoy Shields in Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may to be made to an animal rescue association.
