John passed away peacefully in hospital on November 20, 2015. He is survived by his brother Frank George Ferris (Heather). John was blessed with a long and full life. He was a proud veteran having served abroad in the Armed Forces (1941-44) and the Merchant Navy (1944-47). He then returned to Ottawa and worked for Hydro and the Mint. He took full advantage of his retirement years spending many days on the golf course and travelling. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Perley Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre for the excellent care and friendship that he received there during the last year of his life. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, November 25, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road at Albion Road . Celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. in the chapel followed by a reception. Interment Pinecrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and if you wish, donations may be made to the Perley Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre Foundation or a charity of your choice.
