Larry and I send our heartfelt condolences to Jack's family. We have missed his gentle voice and subtle jokes many times in the past year. Earlier this week I was sure I heard him chuckle. Dear Brenda, Elizabeth, Laura, Danny, and all the family.  Please know that you are in our hearts and prayers for God's surpassing peace and strength.  We loved Jack.  A kinder, gentler, compassionate person you could never find.  He had a wonderful wry wit and infectious laugh and a permanent smile that came quite naturally from his big heart.  We loved spending so much time together with you as we grew and shared life together through all those years in young peoples, young marrieds and our small group.  We have wonderful memories of Jack's great leadership in the study and his caring for each one of us and for our wonderful happy fun times together.    When Jack and I had lunch together before the pandemic, Jack shared how much he had come to know and love the Lord is such a deeper way through the trials, and how close he felt to the Lord.  What a Godly man and an inspiration he is to all who knew him.  

We are deeply sorry for your loss, and we rejoice with Jack that he is finally home.  On this Easter weekend I have no doubt that Jack would be the first to say 'He is Risen, He is Risen indeed' and Jack is experiencing that right now.  Thank you Jack.

Jack was a joy to work with--he always wore a smile regardless of the circumstances.  He brought happiness to the office, and it was greatly appreciated by all those had the pleasure of working with him.  I had the opportunity to see Jack at home a couple of years ago, and despite his medical circumstances, the real Jack we loved was still there.  May he rest in peace.

Jack was one of the finest gentlemen I have ever met; always gracious, caring and friendly.  My heart felt empathies go out to Brenda, Elizabeth, Laura, Danny, grandchildren and all his other loved ones.  This past year has made difficult times even more so.  May the family know that Jack is in a better place now, away from pain, anguish and sorrow.

But as  Colleen and I knew and as the posted movie suggests, this man made an uplifting difference to many.  He was a Christian in fact as well as in name.  My late wife and I were most fortunate to spend many occasions with Jack and Brenda for fellowship  and sharing a meal; sometimes with friends and family.  Brenda and Colleen had been friends since high school so they go way back...

And one word for you Brenda:  God will keep you safe as you mourn the loss of your dear Jack.

Jack was kind of the spiritual leader of a MET church study group I attended for a few years. I thought he did a great job at most of these get togethers. One of these meetings happened a few days after my father died. I attended and was greatly comforted just being with the group. I'm very grateful to Jack for keeping these meetings going and for  his hard work.

Please accept my deepest condolences, Brenda and family. Knowing and working with Jack at the City of Ottawa was a pleasure. He was a passionate policy person who had a sense of humour with which he brought people together and developed solutions. He provided comic relief and presented other views, while being kind to all. He had many interests, especially aviation whether actual planes, or paper ones. He loved a good pun and often brought laughter to the work place. Jack's love of family was evident through his many stories about you and your accomplishments. He was very proud of you and loved being a granddad. He will be missed and remembered fondly.  I am so sorry for your loss. 

May I express my sincere condolences to Jack's family.  I worked with Jack for only a few years at the beginning of his Urban Planning career with the City of Ottawa in the 1980s.  While that was so many years ago, I still, to this day have strong remembrances of Jack.  He was a humble, engaging, kind and reliable fellow worker and a public servant of the highest order.  While Jack and I have not seen each other since I retired so many years ago, I still remember him as a family man, a person of faith and a fun guy to be around. May he rest in peace.

Jack had a calm, compassionate nature, with both a keen intellect and humour.  Jack was THE authority on the City of Ottawa Official Plan and all things policy.  It was an honour and a privilege to work with Jack, learning so much from his brilliant mind and experience, while always enjoying his comic relief with his attempt to learn French!
My condolences to Brenda and family.  Jack shared many family stories with me which I truly enjoyed over the years!  He was a great man, loved his family, and I will miss him dearly.

My deepest condolences to Jack's family. Jack's smile would light up the room.  He was that rare combination of personality, intelligence and common sense that made him a pleasure to be around and work with.  RIP Jack.

The passing of Jack rings every sadness bone in our body; he was a wonderful guy!  Jack was a very humble man who simply oozed cheer and brilliance, who brought unrelenting kindness to all with the utmost dignity and sincerity.  Jack bore many a burden and overcame more than his fair share of challenges, never giving up but always giving.  He was devoted to his family.  He earned only respect as a colleague.   We were proud and blessed to have him as a very good friend.  We will never forget you Jack, we love you.

Jack was a true friend and will always have a place in our heart.  He was the loyal keeper of Ottawa's Official Plan, a loving father and husband to his family, a devoted friend who gave far more than he took, a persistent jokester who could bring a laugh to any occasion, bright, quiet and thoughtful, and a devout person, true to his faith.  We will miss him terribly.

I’m so sorry to hear of Jack’s passing!  My deep condolences to Brenda and family.

Jack was such a kind and gentle soul, with an amazing sense of humour.  He was a big part in making the early Planning days so enjoyable!

Please accept my deepest condolences.  I had the pleasure of working with Jack when the City amalgamated.  He was passionate, intelligent, and incredibly kind.  I am so sorry for your loss.
 

Jack was a treasured friend, a dear brother in Christ, our encourager, prayer partner.  We walked together while raising our children, facing illnesses, rejoicing, laughing, crying .  He always took time to send a detailed email or make a phone call, even when he was being challenged.  We wish we could surround Brenda & family with a big hug.  Our love & prayers continue for you.
