Died peacefully at home on Aug 11, 2024 surrounded by family.
Born Elizabeth Marie Margaret Rose Elliot Zimmer in Brownsburg Quebec on July 1, 1937.
At the age of 20, she joined the RCAF where she trained as a meteorologist.
While stationed in France, she met and married Jack Johnson who predeceased her in 2017. They were married 58 years, and lived 55 years in the same home. She will be sorely missed by her children - Tracy (Kevin), Dwight and Kelly (Sheridan) and her grandchildren Ben and Teagan.
Our mom was a talented sewer, quilter and knitter.
She was a piano player, a voracious reader, and she drove big and small school buses.
She was a lifelong nature lover and camped from coast to coast with our dad.
Mom was an avid gardener and an adult graduate of horticulture at Algonquin College. She was a volunteer and member of the Friends of the Central Experimental Farm since 1996.
She will be remembered for her curiosity and mastery of roman numerals.
Family crosswords won’t be the same without her.
We’d like to thank the Ottawa South Palliative Group for their incredible care, which allowed us to fulfill mom’s wish to remain in her home.
The family would appreciate donations in her memory to the Ottawa South Palliative Foundation (https://www.ottawasouthpalliative.com/foundation) or the Friends of the Farm (https://friendsofthefarm.ca/donations/)
