I had the pleasure of working with Chris at Nortel for a number of years. He was always smiling and spreading his good humour throughout our department. I had the pleasure of running into him after our Nortel days downtown on O'Connor Street. I was so happy to hear he had found a career that he really enjoyed. Although our conversation was brief (he had to get back to work) it was very upbeat.

2yrs Chris... and i'm still counting every day I get to miss your smile, laughter & you singing along with your guitar...it doesn't get easier i'll tell you that! You left quite the imprint on my heart babe... i just hope & have faith that you are well and looking over your girls and family. 

You'd be a bit upset with me...am working 24/7 to keep busy. Took a better job, expanded my business...keeps me busy but i am exhausted...running away from time?! ;)

I wish I had one last moment with you... to laugh...to sing...to hug you...to tell you how much of my heart was yours. Happy New Year Hun...miss you so much!!

Daddy,
I've been thinking about you a lot lately. There are so many things I wish I could have you around for right now. I wish I could have you there to meet your first grandchild coming in January. I wish you were still here telling me everything's going to be okay. I know you're looking down watching over me but its just not the same as having you here. Hey Chris, I've been thinking about you all day and wondered what I would say if I could see you today. Happy Birthday would be the first, then I'd tell you how much I've missed you. It's hard to believe how much we fought as kids and then to have such a close relationship. I always tell people that I have no regrets and that's because of how close we were! I just wish that I could talk to you again. I know that day will come but not soon enough. I know you are in a good place and with great people....none better than Mom!  I hope you are all just laughing it up and enjoying every moment. Until we meet again my brother! I love you very much! Amy also wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday and she hopes you're saving her a spot beside you on your favorite slot machine.

Dear Cane family it has been brought to my attention that one of our friends has passed on. I would like to take the time and reflect upon the man that was not only a friend but an inspiration to those lives he had touched. He was an incredible father a skilled tech and wonderful friend. Dear brother, 
The words that so quickly come to mind our shock and misbelief. The fact that you were taken from us so suddenly and without time to share our thoughts with you have brought us here today surrounding you trying to express how much you meant to each and every one of us. 
You always had an ease about you that made everyone around feel comfortable and accepted.  You never asked for anything and never wanted more then you had. As complexed as your life could be you remained a simple man. Over the last week that was made apparent by all the e mails, texts and wishes from family, friends and clients that have expressed their gratitude they felt by your presence and wishing you a safe journey. 
You have been through a lot in your short 47 years on this earth and only you know the pain you carried. Yet you never let it show but rather maintained a positive attitude around all of us and your greatest accomplishments your 3 daughters. Alison, Rebecca and Jordan were your whole life and that showed through any of the pain you may have been feeling.  
It's not hard to see why GOD would want you by his side to help teach others what you have taught us over the years.  
Although I am happy for you for the journey you are getting ready take I am saddened by the fact that I won't have the opportunity to just pick up the phone and call you as I did practically every day for the last several years. I will cherish the calls that we did have and the moments we shared.   
I know that today our eyes are filled with sorrow and our hearts ache with pain but someday our tears will turn to joy and our hearts will fill with laughter as we look back at the pleasure and warmth you brought to our lives.  
We have to let you go now my brother as I hear the gates of heaven opening and feel the gentle hands of our mother reaching out to you. It's time to finally show us your wings that you have held hidden for so long, and extend them as much as possible so you can fly home and help prepare the road ahead for when it becomes our turn to join you. 
Till then, sleep well my brother we will truly miss you………….
